ACFTScore.com ACFT Usage Notes - Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) Score Calculator
☰ MenuThis page contains various notes which describe or clarify the scoring methods used by the calculator. Much of the methodology behind the functions of this calculator are explained here. I have made great efforts to ensure that the results generated by this utility are consistent with Army policy and regulations; however, I always welcome comments or suggestions if you feel that I have made an error.
General Notes
As of this update (8 October 2019), ACFT scoring is still a moving target, with the Army regularly releasing updates and changes to the ACFT and scoring procedures. While we have made efforts to ensure the accuracy of all ACFT-related information, please be sure to refer to your local organization, as well as HQDA EXORDs, ALARACTs, and or/MILPERs for updated policy guidance.
Passing Standard
The ACFT passing standard is determined by the individual Soldier's military specialty (MOS or AOC). Soldiers classified in the Moderate category must achieve 60 points on each event in order to pass the ACFT. Soldiers in the Significant category must achieve 65 points on each event to pass. Soldiers in the Heavy category must achieve 70 points on each event to pass.
This calculator also offers a 50% Standard which has traditionally been used to score Soldiers in Basic Combat Training (BCT), and the Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP). The 50% standard is also used in some JROTC units and other cadet-type organizations.
Important: As of this update, we have seen no clear guidance concerning how Soldiers will be classified in the physical demands categories. We expect this will be based on their primary MOS, using the physical demand categories assigned to that MOS in PAM 611-21. The following points are less clear:
- PAM 611-21 is a living document. Physical demands are established for each MOS/AOC based on the individual critical tasks associated with that MOS. Accordingly, physical demand categories are subject to change as ICTLs are changed and updated. It is unclear how a Soldier will be scored if they enters their MOS under one physical demand category, but that category is later changed.
- We have seen some reports of unit-wide physical demands classification (e.g., an entire Infantry unit being tested to Heavy regardless of individual Solder MOS) during IOC testing. Is there a possibility that a Soldier's passing standard (physical demands category) is increased due to unit assignment?

Scoring Modes
The calculator can score APFT results in two different modes.
- Record mode does not award points for alternate aerobic events or waived events in accordance with FM 7-22. This is the default mode and is recommended for most users.
- Promotion mode awards points in accordance with AR 600-8-19 (Enlisted Promotions and Reductions) for alternate aerobic events and push-up or sit-up events which have been waived due to a Soldier's physical profile. This mode should be used when scoring Soldiers for the purpose of determining promotion points.
Alternate Event and Waived Event Scoring
The mandatory events on the ACFT are the 3-rep Maximum Deadlift (MDL), Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC), and an aerobic event - either the 2-mile run, or one of three alternate events (15000m bike, 5000m row, or 1000m swim).
The Army has announced that the alternate aerobic events will be scored, unlike the current GO/NO-GO standard on the legacy APFT. The Army has not yet released scoring standards for these events. We expect that, once released, performing a points conversion of alternate aerobic events for promotion purposes (in accordance with AR 600-8-19, Enlisted Promotions and Reductions) will not be necessary.
Waived Event Scoring
The mandatory events on the ACFT are the 3-rep Maximum Deadlift (MDL), Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC), and an aerobic event - either the 2-mile run, or one of three alternate events (15000m bike, 5000m row, or 1000m swim).
There is currently no guidance on whether points will be awarded for events waived due to physical profile as is currently done on the legacy APFT (AR 600-8-19, Enlisted Promotions and Reductions).
Height/Weight Scoring
Height/weight is scored in accordance with Table B-1 contained in AR 600-9, The Army Body Composition Program.
Underweight Soldiers
When using the height/weight scoring portion of this calculator, the calculator will generate a warning if any Soldier on the report is underweight. Per AR 600-9, The Army Body Composition Program, underweight Soldiers must be referred for immediate medical evaluation. Please note that AR 600-9 does not direct failure of weight screening or any flagging action for underweight Soldiers, only medical referral.
